Help the Lee girls in their time of need

My name is Carla, and I am the mother of two amazing young girls, ages 10 and 4. Their late father has left us in an untenable financial situation after passing away from terminal cancer in November 28th, in the midst of a frantic move from our home, which he initiated via a court ordered sale during our divorce. We have not received a penny from the equity due at closing, nor have we received any indication that he has made provisions for their financial support upon his death, in spite of having ample means, time, and resources to do so. Everything is tied up in probate, and I’ve been informed that it may be months and months before the matter is resolved and funds are released. 

As the sole breadwinner for our household, I have moved from survival mode from the past year’s events, to crisis mode. 

I am currently seeking support in retaining a probate attorney to assist me in navigating the complex journey of recovering any financial support we are due from their late father’s estate, securing federal benefits my children are eligible for, keeping a roof over our heads and food in our home, maintaining consistent educational and enrichment activities, and supporting our mental / physical health, safety, and wellness as I help my two devastated girls cope with the monumental amount of displacement and grief they’ve experienced and continue to experience.  

 We are relying on the generous support of our community to help us avoid food and housing insecurity, stay current with medical / dental / therapist visits, fuel our car, and keep both girls cared for by sitters and engaged in familiar educational / enrichment activities in our local community. 

It is very humbling to seek financial support during this period of upheaval and crisis, and we greatly appreciate your consideration, compassion, and assistance as we adjust to a lot of unknowns in our lives. I believe strongly in working hard to accomplish tough goals, and am confident that we can weather this period of our lives. I also recognize that we cannot do it alone, and am grateful for the support of this community.
