Help the little family to gain back stability
Donation protected
We are reaching out to the community on Cortes to ask for help with our current situation. Omilea grew up on Cortes and moved back with her youngest son when he was just months old to raise him here with her family. She just had a new baby Myriam with long-time partner Saria, and they are now back on Cortes after spending a month in Campbell River awaiting the birth. There were months of emotionally and financially trying times while Omilea was pregnant with Myriam, travelling back and forth with the entire family to Victoria, Nanaimo and Campbell River because of complications with the pregnancy.
The Bear Essentials Program in B.C. was supposed to cover some of their costs, but because of some details and red tape, they have not been able to access that program and they were counting on it to help them with their travel expenses and medical costs.
Omilea had to stop working her full time job on Cortes because of the pregnancy complications, and her partner Saria had to cut back his hours to help care for her. Since having the baby, they were counting on their place of employment to hire Saria back, but they laid him off instead and are not able to get E.I.
This young family is struggling to pay back their debts on credit cards, which they filled to the maximum just trying to have their new baby safely on Vancouver Island. They are in desperate need of financial help, anything to get them back on their feet. Myriam is not even a month old, and Omilea will not be going back to work soon. Saria is hoping to find work on the Island and not have to leave his new baby to find work off Island, in a camp up North.
Anything will help, they are so very grateful for any donation you can spare. Thank you!
