Donation protected
The Indonesian island of Lombok has been shaken by two deadly earthquakes on July and August 2018 and killed more than 500 people. The number of damaged is recorded at 606 damaged education facilities including elementary, junior and senior high school.
Sokong Elementary School is one of the schools that destroyed by the quake.
Mr. Sumiarno, aka Pak No
According to the headmaster, Mr. Sumiarno or knowingly called by "Pak No,"
"The school is badly damaged," he said. "it is sad to see the kids not only losing a home but also their classroom and playground."
Pak No lived in a temporary shelter as the earthquake destroyed his house, but it doesn't stop him from helping and motivating his students to not giving up on school.
The earthquake aftermath impacted the kids' daily routine, such as school avoidance, losing interest in the study, and difficulty concentrating.
Last year, the school received funding from the local government and the Ministry of Education and Culture to build four new classrooms and a teacher lounge, but the school was still short of money to build other facilities.
The fundraising aims to raise $2000 in helping Pak No to build the rest of the school facilities, including :
1. A sports field
2. two classrooms
3. books for the library
During this pandemic, to keep the students and teachers stay hygiene and healthy, they urgently need :
3. Handwashing stations
4. Masks
5. Hand sanitizers
6. Infrared thermometers
All the recent donation will provide the supplies for pandemic back to school. I will keep you updated on the items they buy.
Thank you for your interest in our cause. Your donation will mean so much for Pak No and Sokong Elementary students.
