Help the Lowery Family cover medical expenses

We're Hannah and Emily Drain, and we are fundraising for the Lowery Family in Cottonwood, California. Thank you so much for reading this.

We are raising funds for our Aunt Gina and Uncle Raymond who have been through years of scary medical trials and tribulations with their 16 year old daughter, Abigail.

The funds being raised will contribute to medical bills not covered by insurance, travel costs, and other expenses related to the family’s wellness.

Three years ago, Abigail was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive seizure disorder that dramatically limited her quality of life. Abby quickly went from a thriving young girl to a young woman who can’t be left alone, attend school, or go on walks without supervision.

The medical staff at UC Davis have been incredible in helping to investigate and care for Abby’s seizure disorder. As of March 2023, the team found an odd potential solution: they implanted a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS). The VNS is placed under the skin like a pacemaker. An electrode from the device is wrapped around the vagus nerve in the neck sending off electrical impulses every 5 minutes in hopes of stopping any seizures before they start. It's an incredible solution! So far, we are seeing incredible improvement in Abby’s quality of life. It has been such a gift!

Despite this hopeful solution, the family has been devastated with fear, uncertainty, and medical bills.

While insurance is helpful, there are large portions of the medical bills that aren’t covered, and the cost of traveling to UC Davis is adding up.

We are asking the community to help cover expenses and support this family as they seek answers.
