Help the Lunsford Family with Medical Expenses

I'm a friend of the Lunsford family. I saw Candy's post on Facebook and asked her if I could help by creating a GoFundMe, and though they are private and prefer to be on the giving side rather than the receiving, they agreed. :-) (Candy held a fundraiser for our family for our son's scoliosis treatments just last year!)

It's been a rough few days. Ronnie was cutting down a huge tree on Wednesday. It shifted and landed on him and crushed his left side. Our 3 older boys managed to get the tree off of him. He has a broken collar bone, cracked pelvic bone on both sides, and some internal injuries. He's not able to walk or use his arms, not due to paralysis, but due to injuries. He'll have surgery for the internal injuries in about 6 weeks after the pelvic bone heals. It's going to be at least an 8 week recovery.

My boys thought we had lost him. I was baking when 1 of them ran in to get me. I ran out checked that he had feeling everywhere, put him on my back, and ran him in the house. After I cut his clothes off I could tell he had lots of injuries and we rushed him to the ER. We live out in the country and I felt I could get him there quicker than they could get to us and then get him to the hospital. The ER doctors said I made the right call.

For those that don't know, the college Ronnie was teaching IT courses at closed due to Covid back in October and we lost our insurance. Because of no insurance they wouldn't take him at rehab. So me and the boys are his rehab.

I know we are so fortunate that it wasn't worse. He had just turned off the saw and turned his body. When the tree hit him the saw slung away from his body about 6 feet.

God is showing up BIG in all areas...from the saw being slung away from him to miraculous strength to move the tree off of him and me being able to carry him into the house.

We're asking for prayers for an easy recovery, wisdom as we rehab him at home, patience for Ronnie because he can't do for himself, rest because we're all physically and mentally exhausted, and for medical things to go smoothly without insurance. I'm sure I'll have more later but that's what I can think of at the moment.
