Help the Lyman Family Recover from Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Tim Maher and I am starting this fundraising page on behalf of John and Joelle Lyman. As many of you know, when Hurricane Ian made landfall it absolutely devastated many areas - especially Florida. John and Joelle's new home was right in its unforgiving path and their home and neighborhood were not spared. John and Joelle have devoted their lives to helping others through emergency medicine and education. Let's help them get back on their feet!
A little blurp about them from Joelle herself:
John and I met in elementary school, graduated together, and got together 10 years later. I was a special education teacher and administrator for years. We have 2 children, a grandson, and another grandbaby on the way. We bought our house in January/February and both of us moved back to Florida (officially) in March. We were heartbroken when we arrived at the park and saw the devastation. Several of the sewer pipes broke throughout our community, which added to the mess of the storm surge/wind. There was at least 7-9 feet of water in our home. Everything is soaked and contaminated. We had just redone the floors, sided the house, and bought new furniture throughout (except for the lanai). We have filed our insurance claim but it could take months before an assessor can get there. Our neighborhood has been declared a Natural Disaster Area. We will be in contact with FEMA in the next day or 2 and wait for direction from them. Until then, we are going to pray for our home, our neighbors, and the people of Florida. This hurricane has been life-changing.
