500 miles ride for Major Taylor documentary film.

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cyrille Vincent, I am an independent documentary filmmaker based in Worcester Massachusetts.
For the last two years, I have been working to bring the powerful but forgotten story of Marshall Major Taylor to millions of people around the world.

Coined the ''Black Cyclone'', Major Taylor won the world bicycle championship in 1899 in Montreal-Canada and broke the color line in cycling a half-century before Jackie Robinson did in baseball.
While working on this film project, I have also kept a full-time day job which is how I can put food on the table and pay my bills.
While I love my day job, it is just not realistic to keep juggling between filmmaking and nursing; especially now that the Major Taylor film documentary project calls for all the attention it can get from me as the director.
For the next two years, I need to secure all the material needed and focus full-time on finishing and distributing this long-awaited film.
So far, with the help of generous friends and film supporters, we have been able to do significant research and development work and produce a trailer concept to demonstrate the film's vision.
Watch the trailer concept here :
While the total budget of the film is one million two hundred thousand dollars, our goal at this stage is to raise one hundred thousand dollars that amount to the critical funds needed to move this project forward.
We need your help to advance this film project...that is why I am calling you to please donate today.

  • Funds raised by this GoFundMe campaign will make it possible to hire a professional documentary scriptwriter or an industry veteran co-director and pay for the research and historical advisors teams.

  • If we reach this campaign goal of $100,000, I will be able to take a sabbatical from my nursing job to focus solely on fundraising, finishing and making the film available to people through festivals, and community events and hopefully get on a major distribution platform or VOD (Video On Demand).
The only way I can accomplish efficiently this level of work is by securing a full-time (at least) minimum wage salary for the next two years as the director and producer of the film.
To raise awareness about this fundraising campaign, I will be riding 500 miles across Iowa on my road bike from July 22 to 29, 2023.
The bike was donated for this campaign by The Bike Connector, a nonprofit community-based program that offers a “Do It Together” bike repair workshop, affordable bicycles, and hands-on educational programming.
I will be joined on the ride by Sunnie and Orlando who are members of the Major Taylor Iowa Cycling Club.
For full transparency, I am committed to sharing the behind the scene of my training and ride across Iowa. You can follow the journey and get instant updates on our social media.

You can help make this DREAM a reality by donating to this campaign today!
Every donor of this special GOFundMe campaign will receive a THANK YOU acknowledgment in the film's end credits under MAJOR LEGACY BUILDERS.
We will also recognize all the donors of this campaign on social media before, during and after the ride.
Even better, every donation of $100 and above will automatically unlock a special gift from the film team.
