Christmas 2023

Hello Family, Friends and Neighbors.
I started this fundraising for a very close friend of mine, Jessica Martinez and continue to update and share. Let me give a little background on Jessica and her family. The Martinez family live in a somewhat rural area on the edge of Tampa, FL area. Jessica and her husband Erich have 3 children ages 8-16. One girl and 2 boys. As you can imagine Jessica has her hands full being the matriarch of her family.
In Oct/Nov 2023 she noticed a lump in one of her breasts. After discussing with her doc and going back and forth she was given an appointment date in Jan for a mammogram. During this time without knowing her mass was growing in size and multiplying until it started to cause her extreme pain. A breast cancer oncologist/surgeon was recommended and we went to him immediately. This was when the Dr. said she needed all scans and mammogram the next day.
Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 3, Triple Negative Breast Cancer at 38 years old. 2 days later on Feb 7, 2024 Jessica started her 1st round of chemo. She endured multiple hours twice a week of chemo as well as 3x weekly iron infusions for 12 weeks. After which followed by 9 wks of an intense chemo treatment every 3 wks.
Jessica just finished her chemotherapy treatment at the end of July 2024. Her after chemo MRI showed great improvement to the main mass, but additional spots have appeared. She was set in August to have a double mastectomy then start her radiation therapy. Jessica has completed the double mastectomy with great pain and was ready to begin her radiation in Oct. when issues with her insurance paused all her trearments setting her back.
During her initial diagnosis she was advised of the affects and that it would be recommended not to work. Through all the fatigue and sickness, of course just taking care of the kids was barely all she could do. Jessica's husband Erich has been extremely supportive with her treatments, helping do a lot of things she has not been able to as well as working extra to supplement income. With the loss of the working income Jessica had before this year, things have been more than a tight squeeze for this family.
We are asking for any sharing of this and any donations of any amount to help the Martinez family stay on top of monthly expenses like rent, insurance, transportation and groceries.
UPDATE 12/4/24
Jessica is still on Chemo via meds and is starting Radiation next week after a few setbacks with insurance and transportation. They have one car for the family and currently are not able to drive it. Jessica's radiation is set to be 5 days a week for the coming 20 weeks. We are working to figure out how to find and cover transportation for her treatment. The insurance only covers 3 transportation trips and she will need daily. They will also be having a rent raise the 1st of the year.
Go Fund Me only takes a small small percent and ALL donations are sent to Jessica as soon as processed. With the end of the year holidays and most importantly Jessica's radiation and a pending upcoming surgery for her chest, PLEASE DONATE ANY amount to help Jessica maintain her treatment without interruption. EVERY DOLLAR LITERALLY HELPS!!!
