Help the McCollough Family

In September, my father abandoned his family: me, my sibling, my mom and his grandkids. From my parents separating I learned one thing: my own father does not care about us.

We've lived together in the same home for 26 years. My parents are now getting divorced (surprise!), but my dad still promised to support his family and pay the mortgage on my childhood home, that he always intended to leave to me and my husband. We offered to take over the payments since he left, but he said it wasn't necessary. My father then quick claim deeded our home to a fictitious corporation under his mother's name, and is now claiming that the corporation does not want to rent to us and we have to leave. We laughed and ignored it, but then it got more real. My father, grandma and this "corporation" allowed our home to go into foreclosure, and now our fight or flight response is kicking in.

We have 60 days to find something else with no savings to our name. Despite making great wages and having decent credit, we still live paycheck to paycheck. My husband is currently on medical leave due to epilepsy, and I work from home for a learning materials company while caring for our 3 children, ages 1, 7 & 8. Myself, husband, my three kids, my mother and sibling are all being affected. We have too many pets that cannot be brought to a rental property. We qualify for a home but not one large enough to keep everyone together. As much as I'd love to leave Cali and start over, we have two kids in school who we do not have total autonomy over, so we need to stay local. The SoCal buyers and renters market is crazy right now. We're running out of time and options to keep our family together. So I am swallowing my pride and asking for help from strangers on the internet.

Any funds from this fundraiser will be used to help us put a down payment on a place, put our belongings in storage, and for legal fees to hopefully fight my father.
