Hi, everyone. My name is Chloe Thompson (formerly DeIulis), and I am starting this page to raise funds for one of my oldest and dearest friends, Sara McFarland, and her family. When we were young teenagers Sara developed a rash across her face, which we had no clue was the telltale 'butterfly rash' that comes when you are diagnosed with lupus. Over the years, she's had her ups and downs but luckily she has been so strong amidst everything and we've not seen her in the hospital for more than a day or two at a time during her lupus flare ups, which are more prone to happen in times of high stress and lifestyle changes.
But this past time was very different. Another rash, another doctor's appointment and she was led down one road after another to determine the cause - one of these incidental findings from her MRI is that she's had 2 strokes in some time since 2013, amongst a host of other complications that will change her daily life. After 10 days in the hospital, Sara finally was able to go home, but not without a mountain of worry, follow-up appointments and planned outpatient care for speech therapy and cognitive exercises. As a nurse herself, Sara has spent more than a decade caring for patients of all ages with all ailments.
While the outcome is a lot to process, the fallout from this stay means that Sara will be out of work for 8 weeks, and her husband, Jimmy is taking extended leave as well. As we all know, medical expenses add up, as do day-to-day expenses especially with a little boy.. I'm asking, because I know Sara won't, for those in our friend circle and friends of friends to please consider donating to her GoFundMe to help them with the mountain of bills ahead so this can be one less stress in their lives.
I appreciate your consideration and generosity, and really hope that even if you can't donate at this time that you share this post far and wide to support this beautiful family, and my beautiful friend.
Thank you,
Chloe
