UPDATE: Thank you all so much for the love, kindness and support you have shown our family during this difficult time. You have shown the best side of humanity in our time of need. With your donations, we have been able to buy everyone a few pairs of clothes, basic necessities and meals, as without a kitchen they are reliant on take out food for the time being. They are currently in a hotel while we figure out more permanent living accommodations while insurance handles the repair process. There are still more expenses coming out of pocket such as the mortgage payment and meals while they try to find a place, so any donations towards our goal are greatly appreciated. Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

My name is Dannete Moore and I'm reaching out today with a heavy heart to share the news that my parents, Jose and Laura Medina, my little brother Jaime, as well as my sister and brother in law, Bertha and Mario Villalta and their daughter Helena and their dog Lily, have lost their East Los Angeles home in a devastating fire. On May 30th, 2024, a fire started in my parents' home and in a matter of minutes, their home was rendered uninhabitable. My father worked so hard to provide this home for our family and now they have little more than the clothes on their backs. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but the emotional and financial toll is immense. We have no idea what the coming days, weeks, or months are going to look like.

For years, my parents' home was a sanctuary filled with love, memories, and countless moments of joy. They have always been the pillars of our family, offering help and support to anyone in need. Now, they are the ones who need our help. The journey to rebuild their lives and home will be long and challenging. They need immediate assistance to cover basic necessities like clothing, food, and temporary housing. In addition, they face the daunting task of replacing essential items and eventually rebuilding their home.

We have set up this GoFundMe campaign to rally support for my parents during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Your generosity will help them find some stability and start the process of rebuilding their lives.

Mi nombre es Dannete Moore y hoy me comunico con gran pesar para compartirles la noticia de que mis padres, José y Laura Medina, mi hermano pequeño Jaime, así como mi hermana y mi cuñado, Bertha y Mario Villalta y sus Su hija Helena y su perra Lily perdieron su casa en el este de Los Ángeles en un devastador incendio.
