Help the Medway Family Fight for Jordan's Health!

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Lyndall, and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to share the incredibly challenging situation one of my most closest friends and her family are facing. Jord Medway was recently rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney after experiencing severe and rapidly deteriorating health issues.

What started as a concerning decline in his well-being has escalated into a medical emergency. Jord has suffered three fractures, compression on his spine, is experiencing significant pain, and is undergoing urgent testing to determine the cause and extent of what is happening.

The past few days have been a whirlwind of fear and uncertainty. A nightmare! After initially being told there was no cancer, a neurosurgeon delivered the devastating news that Jord's condition is critical, with potential risks including paralysis and that cancer may still be on the cards.

Mel has been driven down to Sydney to be by his side, providing comfort and care, and navigating the complex medical system. While Mel is supporting Jord in Sydney, the family are facing expenses for the private hospital, specialists, anaesthetics, medical procedures, accommodation, all while taking time off work to be with Jord and to help out back home in Dubbo with Mia and Lucy. The financial burden is overwhelming and if anyone knows Mel and Rick, they are not ones to EVER ask anyone for help. This is where we can pitch in!

I know times are tough for everyone, but any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. Your generosity will help to cover these mounting medical expenses and allow the family to focus on Jord's care.

Please keep Jord in your thoughts and prayers. The Medway family are facing an incredibly uncertain time and I know they will be thankful from the bottom of their heart's.

Update 4th March 2025:

Today, Jordan and the family received confirmation and a diagnosis of Leukemia. Cancer has been detected in various parts of Jord's body and the fight ahead is still unknown. Bone marrow testing and further plans post those results will be shared with the family in the coming week/s.

Thank you everyone who has taken the time to donate, share or simply pass on your thoughts to the Medway family. They are truly grateful for everyone's generosity and heartfelt wishes.

Update 10th March 2025:

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! We have reached our first set goal of $10,000. Let's keep our support up for Jordan and the family.

Jordan will start his chemotherapy journey today, with a 4-hour infusion of methotrexate into his spine.

Jordan’s hair is expected to start falling out with this first round of chemotherapy. He will today wash and dry his beautiful long blonde locks for the last time pre-treatment.

He has made the decision to shave his head when it starts to fall out. We will attempt to video this monumental occasion should Mel not shed too many tears and be able to see what she is videoing.

Update:

Well it’s been an Easter weekend we won’t ever forget!

Jordan has spent the weekend at RNSH after being taken to ED by ambulance on Thursday morning as he was slipping in and out of consciousness, uncommunicative and had a temp of over 41 degrees. We have been told he is suffering from neutropenia (again, unfortunately, something common amongst leukaemia patients).

He has received multiple blood transfusions, platelet transfusions & IV antibiotics over the weekend. His chemotherapy has been placed on hold until his body is able to recover and his blood levels rise again.

Jordan has had some special visitors over the weekend. Whilst he hasn’t been able to spend the quality time with them that he would have liked, he has enjoyed their company and managed to share some laughs.

Jordan’s hair began falling out more prominently over the weekend and he decided it was time to shave his head with his special visitors present. This was a very special time for us all.

We are now entering week nine of this journey. Nine weeks away from home, family, friends, work… normality. It’s been a ride, and it seems there’s still quite a journey ahead. All donations go directly to supporting Jordan on this journey - medications / treatment, meals, transport, accommodation, helping with his usual bills while he is unable to work and (when he is able to) entertainment. We wholeheartedly appreciate all of the help & vow to pay it forward once we make our way through the other side of this!

Thank you for all the continued prayers, love and support - the phone calls, messages, visits & pictures of those we love all continue to motivate us and keep us positive.

Sending love to all back home & all those following Jordan’s journey. x
