Hello,
My name is Alyssa and Josh is my Brother-in-Law. he has recently discovered that he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I am starting this GoFundMe to try and help with all of the expenses they are going to have during treatment and other things while Josh cannot work. I am not the best with words, but this man has such a golden heart and is the best Father, Husband, Brother, etc. He works harder than anyone I know to provide the best life for Michelle and Liliana. Anything helps at this point.

I just wanted to give everyone a little update. The doctor came in today and confirmed to me that I have what's called Acute Myeloid Leukemia. At the moment they are pumping some anti nausea medicine into me and they are expecting to start chemotherapy within the next hour. I'm doing what there calling a 7+3 Regimen. I'll start with 3 days of a more aggressive treatment drug and then I'll do 7 days of a different less aggressive treatment drug. Following these treatments I'll remain in the hospital being monitored because my immune system is going to be shot and I'll need blood and platelet transfusions and I'll need another bone marrow Biopsy to see how things are going. This is a very scary situation for my family and I but we are all trying our best to hold it together. I just want to sincerely thank all of you who have shown support I will see you all at the other end of this journey!
A little Side note, a lot of people have said "if you need anything" all I need is for each and everyone one of you to not take any day you wake up for granted. I learned you truly never know what you might wake up and find out one day. Just smile and don't take life so seriously.
Michelle:
I've dreaded making this post but here it goes. Thursday our lives were turned upside down. Josh has been feeling off for a few weeks and had been in and out of urgent care, doctors appointments, and the ER trying to get answers. Thursday morning the doctor called and told him to go to the hospital in Des Moines because he had suspicious blood test results. He was admitted to Mercy and since then has had a CT scan, MRI, ultrasounds, blood draws, and various other tests. He also had a blood transfusion this morning due to his low hemoglobin. All we know right now is that there's a probability for some type of leukemia. Friday morning they did a bone marrow biopsy, and those results should hopefully give us a more definitive answer as to what type of leukemia we're dealing with and how to move forward with treatment options. We'll likely hear those results tomorrow along with an official diagnosis. There's still a chance the abnormal blood results could be caused by something other than cancer, but unfortunately the oncologist says it's unlikely anything else. We're devastated to say the least, but Josh is the strongest person I know, he's literally the backbone of our family. No matter what comes now, we'll get through it together. Please just keep Josh and our family in your thoughts, we're all struggling pretty hard with this.
Liliana really misses her dad, has never really been away from him. Now all she can do right now is FaceTime.
