Help the Mikea of souther Madagascar fight hunger
My name is Phillip Lehman, I am a cave explorer
Since 2014 my dive team and I have been exploring flooded caves in southern Madagascar.
For the past few years, we have focused our explorations on Anjanamba which is now Africa's longest flooded cave.
These explorations would not be possible without the help of the Mikea people who welcomed us with open arms,
these are some of the kindest and most welcoming people on the planet and we are mega forever grateful for their help and friendship.
Anjanamba is on the southwestern edge of the Mikea forest near the Mikea village of Ambolofoty.
The Mikea are hunter-gatherers and they live off the land but due to deforestation the staple food of the village, Baboho which is similar to yuca or potato, is now in short supply and the people there are literally starving.
My team and I have been supporting this village and we will continue to do so but the situation is getting worse by the day and the Mikea need our help now more than ever.
There is a major food crisis unfolding in all of southern Madagascar.
we cannot help all of the people there but we can make a real difference for the Mikea in Ambolofoty.
Just $2 a day can provide a full day's ration, that’s about the price of an espresso and not even the price of a tank fill, please consider helping the Mikea people.
Thank you
