Help the Miller Family on Mike's Sudden Passing

Donation protected
Hi, I am hoping you can help a fellow St. Johnny, Sarah Miller, with emergency expenses resulting from her husband Mike's (also a Johnny) sudden and unexpected passing. Sarah and Mike both attended St. John's and had 6 wonderful children together. Sarah and Mike are the type of people who were always sweet and kind and were always going out of their way to help friends in need so I am hoping we can pitch in and help Sarah with family and memorial expenses during this difficult time. Any contribution that you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Michael Andrew Miller, January 6, 1970 - November 27, 2021

Michael Andrew Miller, of Penacook, New Hampshire, died suddenly on Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was fifty-one.

Michael was born in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania on January 6, 1970. As a young child he moved to Manassas, Virginia, and attended local schools there. In high school he moved to Portland, Maine, graduating from Deering High School in 1988. After some traveling, Michael attended St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, graduating in 1994. Michael felt at home at St. John's, where his love of reading was shared and encouraged, and where he met many lifelong friends, including his wife of 24 years, Sarah. He was captain of his intramural sports team, the Guardians, and spent many afternoons playing basketball, baseball, and soccer with his classmates.

Michael was a disciplined reader, and continued this habit daily his entire life. He was one of the few people who could truthfully say he had read the whole of Marcel Proust's À la Recherche du Temps Perdu, as well as many other long, wonderful, and sometimes obscure works of literature. Michael was also a talented writer, and, though a quiet man, his unique sense of humor shone brightly through this medium, whether a short story, a novel, a letter, or a comment on social media.

Michael moved to New Hampshire in 1997 and started his job at Concord Hospital. That same year he married his college sweetheart, Sarah Burke Miller. The couple had six beautiful children together, four sons and two daughters: Oscar, Charlie, Georgie, Jackie, Susanna, and Dorothy. Michael was deeply devoted to his wife and children, who relied on him for everything from his daily lunchbox and crockpot meals, to his carefully planned weekend trips of hiking and sightseeing, Always positive and enthusiastic about his children's activities, he never missed a chance to watch their countless sporting, scouting, school or church events, or to simply play ball with them in the yard. No road trip was too far for Michael; whether to Philadelphia, Annapolis, or Siesta Key, Michael loved any excursion with his family.
A brilliant, funny, loving, caring, and sweet person was Michael. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife and children, Michael is survived by his mother, Jeanne Bamberger, and her husband, Robert, of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania; his father, Robert Miller, and his wife Cheryl, of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania; his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bill McCann of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, his mother-in-law Pamela Burke, of Penacook, his sister-in-law Jennifer Burke, and her husband Tim Groleau, of Miami, Florida; his sister-in-law Catherine Burke, and her partner, Susan O'Connor, of Penacook, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Michael was predeceased by his sister, Colleen Miller, in 2020, and his father-in-law, Jeffrey Burke, in 2003.

A memorial service for Michael will be held on Friday, December 3, at 11:00, at St. Paul's Church, 21 Centre Street, Concord NH. After the service, the family will host a gathering from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. at their home. For details, please contact Sharon at [phone redacted].
A second memorial service is planned for a later date in Annapolis, Maryland.
