Help The Mira Foundation Train Guide Dogs!

My name is Molly Burke. I’m a YouTuber and Motivational Speaker who happens to be blind. I'm excited to come together as a community and raise money for The Mira Foundation, an organization that trains guide dogs. Each guide dog costs $40,000 to train and The Mira Foundation receives zero government funding. 80% of the blind community is unemployed and therefore, affording these life changing dogs would be impossible without generous donations that allow Mira to gift these dogs to blind handlers free of charge. 

At 4 years old I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. This disease slowly took my vision and changed my life forever. By at 8 I had to start using a cane to help me get around safely. The cane never felt quite right and so I set a goal for myself, to get a guide dog as soon as I could. At the time, there was only one guide dog school in the world providing children ages 13 and up with guide dogs, The Mira Foundation. To this day, they are the only school in the world training guide dogs for blind children, now ages 11 and up. I have been lucky enough to receive 2 incredible dogs from Mira, Gypsy and Gallop, and am awaiting my 3rd. I have been a guide dog user for almost 14 years now and find it hard to put into words just how important these dogs are. My guide dog gives me confidence, freedom, independence, security, mobility, and more. My guide dogs are a vital piece of me and my daily life and many blind folks feel the same.

I want to use my voice and my platform to raise money for The Mira Foundation, who like many, have been hit hard in theses challenging times. I want to keep the funds rolling in so that with Mira, we can help empower more blind people through the use of a guide dog.
