Morris Pearce DNA Genealogy Research Project
Donation protected
This is your opportunity to help find ancestors of the Morris and Pearce/Pierce lines through DNA.
Hi, I'm Irene (Morris) Winterburn, one of several cousins who have joined together to break down our brick walls using DNA and extensive genealogical research.
Years ago several cousins came together to advance our research of our common ancestor James Morris (of Georgia) and his family. We had many male Morrises take Y-DNA tests. Using those DNA test results - and proving lineages using good ol' fashioned research and documents - we were successful in breaking down a wall! We learned through DNA that we had the wrong James Morris and the wrong wife. We were able to identify the “correct” James Morris, and his wife, Nancy Pearce (not Lucy Parham). It is all documented on www.MorrisPearce.com.
We have now been working on the Pearce/Pierce lines for almost two years now, including providing DNA tests (at our own personal expense) to male Pearce/Pierce descendants. However, we need to dig deeper by upgrading existing DNA tests from Y-37 to Y-111 (via FamilyTreeDNA.com), and pay for future DNA testing.
DNA test kits are not cheap! Your gracious donation will be used to cover these costs:
1. Pay to upgrade Y-DNA testing of our current Pearce/Pierce male tests from Y-37 to Y-111 (about $140 for each tester).
2. Purchase new Y-DNA test kits for more male Pearce/Pierce DNA testers. The Y-37 DNA test kits costs about $120, and the new Y-111 test kits costs about $250.
We will be frugal with your donations. We will account for monies spent and will share that information on our "Morris & Pearce Descendants & Ancestors" Facebook page. Our Pearce Preppers Research Group will continue to research and properly source our findings along the way. Follow along at our cousins' website at www.MorrisPearce.com.
This fund will be an ongoing fund because genealogy never ends and we have cousins to find!
Anything you can donate will help. Thanks for contributing.
