Help the Mota Family Fulfill Mom's Final Wish

Dearest friends and family members,

It is with a heavy heart that we, the Mota's, let you know that Elsa Mota, our mother, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 22nd, 2021 due to cancer and other health complications.

Born in Jalisco, Mexico in 1958, Elsa was born into a family of many sisters and brothers.

She came to the USA for a better life for her family. A few months before our mother’s health was failing, she had attained her US Citizenship, an achievement that meant a lot to her.

Elsa gave birth to 6 beautiful children who have all grown up to be exactly like their kind hearted mother.

As a single mother since the early 2000’s, she raised all her children to the best of her abilities. Her dream was to see her children succeed and achieve the American dream.

Our mother had the opportunity to see most of her children get married.

Unfortunately, in 2019 she had developed a lump in her neck that doctors weren’t sure what it was or could not diagnose. In the following months, we were monitoring her health as her symptoms became more aparent.

It was in October of 2020 when we found out that our mother was diagnosed with lymphoma. We were hoping to hear that she had something less serious but it had only brought the worst fears in us. Our mother had little to no health coverage when it came to cancer. With the help of one of her sons, who took out a loan, she sought out treatment that gave all of us hope and she had expressed that she was feeling better. Due to other health complications, her treatment had to be paused.

Shortly after a few weeks have passed, our mother’s health started to digress. She was hospitalized on and off suffering a heart attack and had to undergo medical procedures that exhausted her and her family as well. Unfortunately, due to hospital regulations, we were only allowed 2 visitors per day which made it really hard for us to support her when she needed us the most.

Before our mother passed, she was able to hold her newborn grandson in her arms a few times before her strength and vision was slowly fading away. She had told her son in writing that she wishes to be healthy to take care of her grandson.

Returning home to the care of her children, she was very fragile and our hopes of making a recovery had diminished. The doctors had confirmed there was nothing more we could do but focus on making her comfortable.

During her last days, she enjoyed listening to music, receiving spiritual encouragement, and accepting the warm expressions of love from her family.

Our mothers dying wish was to be buried with her relatives at Montecito Memorial Park. Fortunately, we were able to get a hold of a burial lot for our mother but we didn’t anticipate her passing to come so soon.

Many have asked how they can help and we humbly ask to send donations for her funeral and cancer treatments. We are grateful for those who’ve reached out with their kind words and keeping us in their prayers. Together we can endure with strength and courage to dedicate our lives to loving our family and friends while looking forward to our hope of seeing her again in peaceful conditions. Thank you all again and God bless you.

Warm Regards,

The Mota’s
