As most of you know last year 09/03/2022 Walker Thomas Moulton was born prematurely at 35 weeks 6 days due to complications of Pre-Eclampsia and Pulmonary Edema. Walker later passed away 09/21/22 suffering from an aggressive form of Meningitis and E-Coli that doctors were unable to treat with regular antibiotics, unfortunately even with testing they were unable to even make a for sure diagnosis before it was too late. Eventually this resulted in Walker having brain hemorrhage. We never got the chance to bring Walker home.
The lord blessed us with another chance this year when we found out we were pregnant with our sweet Willow Anne Moulton who was originally due September 18,2023. We chose the name Willow in honor of Walkers life.
A Weeping Willow Tree the perfect symbol to us… Weeping Willows are mainly known as a symbol of grief and mourning but they also symbolize fertility and new life, a willow branch can be planted in the ground and from it, a new tree will grow in its place. Its ability to grow and survive is powerfully symbolic and shows just how we can thrive even in challenging conditions. Willow is our rainbow baby, she is nothing short of a miracle from our son Walker.
Why we made a Go-Fund me-
Complications arose in week 36 of Willows gestation where we were diagnosed with Cholestasis a severe liver condition that develops in pregnancy and has a high risk of still-birth after 37 weeks of pregnancy to baby. Due to these complications we were induced at 36 weeks 6 days on 08/26 and Willow was born 08/27 at 2:26pm weighing in at 6 IBS 9 OZ 18inches long. I lost 700ccs of blood during the birthing process which required me to stay under observation for several hours, Willow was taken to a stork unit to be monitored due to not being able to clear fluid from her lungs. Upon arrival at the stork unit doctors confirmed Willow was actually suffering from a Pulmonary Hemorrhage, they were able to stop the hemorrhage and administer a blood transfusion to her in order to save her life.
Currently Willow and I are stable. I’m recovering in a mother baby unit and Willow is recovering in NICU at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital. Willows condition is still touch and go at this time. Unfortunately research shows that a Pulmonary Hemorrhage in neonates can hold ranges of a 50% to 60% in mortality rate. If Willow is able to pull through she will have a long recovery in NICU, we are asking for financial help with bills, food and gas for round trips, so that we can afford to stay together as a family during this time.
When Walker got sick and passed away last year, we suffered greatly to stay afloat. No one ever has time to prepare for something like this, tragedy tends to just strike and offer no mercy. We would greatly appreciate all of the love and support anyone can offer. Please keep our family in your prayers
Update 08/29/20223 Thank you for the outpouring of love, shares and donations each and every one of you have given us over the last 24 hours. Alex and I are so grateful to have so many amazing people step up and help us.
Willow is still stable, she made it passed her 48 hour marker for the possibilities of re-hemorrhageing. Now that we’ve made it passed this time period she now has a less likely chance of this reoccurring. Now we concentrate on why she hemorrhaged and her healing. Doctors have found some inflammation on her blood panel which indicates sickness. Blood work has been sent off on several different things but no leads other than that she’s fighting something and the doctors believe it’s a viral infection. They also took a look at her heart and determined that the left side of it is not pumping as well as the right side of her heart but those risks at the moment are rated mild/moderate in severity so they don’t think her heart is the issue. Please continue to keep sweet Willow Anne in your prayers tonight.
Update 09/03/2023
Blessed be our little family ❤️
We are proud to say that today Willow is a week clear in recovery with no new bleeds to date! We are also very proud to say that for the first time yesterday willows swelling from fluid retention has went down so much that she can open her eyes now. She is waking up and acting more alert! An echo was redone on her heart and the left side of her heart is pumping better, a spinal tap was done on her a few days ago and we are very happy to say that no bacteria has grown to date to show any positive test results and no viruses have come back testing positive. Another test was done to see what her level of inflammation was and it is going down! First test showed it climbing to 72 and this last test showed that it is trending down to 41 which means she’s fighting whatever she’s sick with! Today is a big day for her, if her blood gasses look great then doctors will attempt to swap out her oxygen machine down a level. Hopefully if she’s ready we will finally get to hold our daughter for the first time since she was born 8/27. We ask that you continue to pray for our sweet baby girl as she continues to fight to heal. 1 week down and a few more to go before she can come home. Thank you all so much for all you have given
Update 9/10:
This week has been quite eventful for Willow!
After they swapped her oxygen machine down Sunday the first few days were trial and error but she got it down pat! Her level of inflammation has downtrended to a 3 so we are very happy to say that she isn’t sick anymore! Her lungs adjusted to the new machine well and now if her chest X-Ray and Echo looks good tomorrow then they’re taking the breathing tube out and swapping her to a nose cannula or a CPAP machine! She still has a lot of stuff on her lungs left over from the hemorrhage and her being sick so they started her on steroid treatment’s Saturday and will be doing a 3 day course to loosen all of it up and get it off her lungs. If the three day course doesn’t work then we will do a 5 day course. Willow continues to thrive in NICU with no new bleeds to date. She is truly our miracle girl ❤️ please continue to keep our daughter in your prayers ❤️
9/11- Willows chest X-ray and echo looked fantastic today so she’s been swapped over to a nasal cannula! She is already on 21% room air oxygen at a peep of 3, she’s yanked it out of her nose numerous times and hasn’t statted once! Nurses and the doctors are even questioning if she even needs anymore respiratory support! God is working miracles right before our eyes ❤️
