My sister-in-law, Instagram whiskey content creator, Sarah Jeltema, and her husband, San Diego Police Sergeant Nicholas Nguyen, suffered a devastating house fire on the night of June 13, 2024 when a dryer fire quickly spread to the roof.
We thank God that everyone, including their two dogs and cat, were safely evacuated.
The house has been declared a total loss. Besides the extensive damage from fire and smoke, the 1948 house was contaminated by asbestos and lead.
Sarah and Nick have found temporary housing and are piecing together emergency essentials for themselves and their pets.
They are beginning to navigate insurance claims.
There is a long road ahead.
How you can HELP:
1) PRAY for their comfort and the provision of all their needs.
2) GIVE whatever you can. No donation is too small. Every dollar will help them with the expense of temporary housing, extensive repairs and the replacement of essential items for their home and business.
Sarah and Nick lost the inventory and A/V equipment for their business (@whiskynomad) and charity (@firstresponderwhiskeysociety)

With gratitude,

Words from Friends:
Warrior family in need! My good friends, Nicholas and Sarah, have dedicated their lives to selflessly serving their community and our first responder family. Nick is a sergeant with the San Diego PD and he and his wife are the brains and backbone of the First Responder Whiskey Society where they have raised over $106,000 for fallen first responder families just last year. Not only is Nick the President of the FRWS, he also holds a position with the Gary Senise Foundation and is huge voice for law enforcement peer support programs.
Last night, Nick and Sarah’s home caught fire, leaving their home and their personal belongings at a complete loss. Their home was not just their home, it was home base for some major efforts to assist families of first responders in need. Sarah’s sister set up a GoFundMe to help out the Nguyen’s. I know Nick and Sarah are too humble to ask for help BUT they are in need! Whether you help by donating a few bucks or just by offering some words of support, it would be much appreciated.
