Help the Oles Family Honor John's Memory

Sadly, on Nov. 22nd, John Oles went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. He left behind his wife of 39 years and two children, Robert and myself (Angie). Dad had struggled at home, being bed-bound since April 21st, 2023, after falling and hurting his hip. Dad was terrified of falling again, so Mom, Robert, and I helped take care of him and keep him comfortable at home. Mom and Robert became Dad's home nurses and made sure his quality of life was as good as they could make it. Everyone who knew Dad knows that Dad was a jokester and was the first to laugh at his own jokes. The week leading up to Dad's passing was definitely no different; he would ask one of us to get things from under/around his bed or off of him that weren't really there due to having hallucinations. Due to his lack of mobility, his oxygen became poisonous and turned into carbon monoxide. Dad was put on a BiPap machine to help his oxygen levels and keep him from having carbon monoxide poisoning. Dad hated that machine. They had also brought in a different oxygen concentrator so he could wear an oxygen mask instead of the normal nasal oxygen hose. Dad had stated on several occasions, including to his therapist he saw monthly, that he was tired and ready to go "home." Dad believed in Jesus as his savior and couldn't wait to be with Him in heaven. I truly feel that Jesus knew Dad was tired and ready to go, so He came and lifted him up to heaven between midnight and 2 a.m. that Friday morning.
Dad was an Army veteran, and however helpful the VA has been, they unfortunately aren't covering all of the expenses for Dad's cremation and burial. Our family is in need of some support through this difficult time. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers and continued support while we grieve the loss of our husband, father, and grandfather. Dad will forever be in our hearts and our memories.
