Help the Oliveros family bury their 9 year old
Donation protected
It is with a very heavy heart that we share the devastating news that Iker Oliveros has passed away. Iker is the nine year old son of Jessica and Salvador, the owners of La Huasteca Mexican Restaurant on Plainfield.
This hardworking family is the embodiment of the American dream. They moved here from Mexico in search of a better life, and worked in various restaurants until they could scrape together enough money to buy La Huasteca. They survived the shutdown during the Covid 19 crisis and have consistently been there to help others in the community.
Now they are the ones who need help. They just invested all of their savings into repairing and renovating the restaurant, with nothing left over for the unexpected costs of burying their son.
The average cost of a funeral is $9500, which is a lot to absorb for the owners of a small restaurant supporting two families. They also still need to pay rent and other bills at the restaurant and at home while the restaurant is closed so they can grieve. Let’s rally together as a community and at least remove the financial toll of this heartbreaking time for the Oliveros family.
