Help Us Build the Future of Comedy in LA!
The Pack Theater and the World's Greatest Improv School (WGIS) are home to some of LA’s most fearless, creative, and hilarious comedic voices. Our spaces aren’t just theaters – they’re places where our community comes together, performers thrive, and audiences laugh their asses off.
But to make our new, shared space the ideal destination for learning and performing comedy in LA, we need your help!
The Pack recently got a fantastic opportunity to move to a new location in Los Feliz. However, before we could hold our first full week of shows in our new space, our original lease was terminated after our original co-tenant unexpectedly moved out, leaving us having to immediately negotiate a new lease and take on substantial unplanned building and materials costs.
To ease the burden we partnered on the building with our longtime friends at WGIS, who were excited to finally open their own location for classes and shows. Things were looking up for both theaters despite the circumstantial challenges and investment of tens of thousands of dollars. We looked forward to realizing our dream of building a nexus of comedy in LA.
Then, during a heat wave, our TWO very expensive A/C & Heating systems broke.
It’s been, quite frankly, a shitty series of relentless, unforeseeable body blows.
Our theaters have healthy, solid business plans, positive momentum, and executable visions to thrive into the future. Neither theater has had to fund raise for things like this before, but we need to now in order to get us over the hump so we can provide a comfortable, welcoming environment for our community and audiences for years to come.
This one-time fundraiser is to help The Pack & WGIS implement several crucial infrastructure upgrades, including:
- 2 new HVAC units ($15K) to keep us cool all year long
- Soundproofing ($8K) to enhance the experience of every show and class
- A large exterior sign ($7K) so everyone knows where the magic happens (and because the lease requires it)
And $5K for the following:
- Outdoor lighting to brighten up the space out back for post-show hangs and safer access
- Decorative improvements to the front of house, box office, and backstage areas, making the spaces more inviting
- And other general improvements to make our theaters as comfortable and functional as possible!
These repairs and upgrades will allow us to better serve our performers, students, and audiences by providing an optimal experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Thanks to the ongoing efforts of our incredible volunteers we’ll soon be in a position where we don’t need to ask for more! Your support now will help us maintain the high standards of comedy we’re known for, while ensuring that our theaters are comfortable, accessible, and a source of pride for the entire community.
