Hey, everyone!

I'd like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who is taking the time to read this message.

I'll be brief and honest - we would deeply appreciate your financial assistance for the upcoming medical procedure and journey that Crystal will be embarking on next month. For those of you who may not know Crystal, she's a loving mom to a beautiful little girl named Anastasia, a devoted wife with seven years of marriage and counting, a cherished daughter, and a beloved sister. She's a wonderful soul, full of love, and it's a joy to know her and be around her. Over the past three years, she has experienced more challenges than most do in a lifetime. Crystal has undergone several surgeries, faced complications, and endured lengthy hospital stays throughout most of 2020 and 2021. For her, these past few years have been a journey of adjusting to changes in her body, requiring immense mental and spiritual effort to reclaim her roles as a mom, spouse, and friend. As a family, we are still dealing with the aftermath and financial burden of those past medical procedures, and with the upcoming surgery and all the visits leading up to it, we are in dire need of any and all help we can get.

Late last year, Crystal began experiencing some abdominal pain and discomfort. Considering her medical history, it was essential to have it checked out. The imaging revealed a large cystic mass on her left ovary. She was referred to a specialist who recommended surgery if the mass continued to grow. Given Crystal's recent medical past, any invasive procedure carries high risks, making avoidance of surgery the preferred option. The initial medical plan was to wait for three months to see if the mass would shrink, providing treatment while avoiding surgery. We held onto hope initially, as the imaging showed some reduction in size after three months. Unfortunately, the latest scans indicated that the mass has grown, and this time, it's even bigger than before. Additionally, she was informed that the mass has accumulated fluid, causing damage to her reproductive organs.

In short, on August 21st, the surgery will involve removing Crystal’s uterus, both fallopian tubes, her left ovary, and possibly her right ovary. This summer has been challenging as we try to process what this surgery means for Crystal as a woman and a mother. After years of adjusting to life without a colon, she now faces the need to adapt once again, and it's been quite stressful knowing all the hurdles that lie ahead. We will be going into this surgery without a clear picture of the recovery time, as it will depend on whether the procedure is done laparoscopically or as an open surgery. Additionally, we don't know if she will enter menopause after the surgery. For now, our focus is solely on having a successful surgery and doing our best to prepare wherever we can. Crystal has been remarkable in transforming the challenges she has faced into a story to share and connect with others in the community, and we hope to see her continue doing so after this surgery.

Following the procedure, Crystal will be seeking a doctor's guidance to learn how to live fully without a colon and manage major hormone issues. This will involve exploring supplements, different diets, and what to eat and avoid, all aimed at extending her life by taking better care of her body. Unfortunately, this aspect of her treatment will not be covered by insurance as it is not considered "medicine." Therefore, the funds raised will also go towards this effort, allowing her to live a fuller and longer life, even with the challenges her body presents.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for visiting this GoFundMe page. Your support means the world to us, and we firmly believe that with God's guidance, we will overcome these obstacles and receive everything we need.

Sincerely, The Pereyra Family
