Help the Rosenberg Family Through Medical Crisis

This fundraiser is to help support Jenifer Rosenberg, her spouse Aaron, and their two kids as Jenifer faces surgery to remove a large and possibly cancerous node on her thyroid.

The journey to even being able to get this surgery has been a long one for Jenifer, requiring numerous specialist visits, costly scans, and hours on the phone fighting with insurance.

Between the frustration of dealing with our country’s disappointing health care system and the significant discomfort the node is causing (it is pressing on the trachea, making it difficult to swallow and making her feel like she’s being strangled) Jenifer has been unable to bring in any income from her job as a freelance writer for the past two months, and will be sidelined for at least another two months after her upcoming surgery while she recovers. There is also a possibility that she will need additional costly and time-consuming treatments afterward if pathology shows the node to be cancerous.

The minimum estimated cost of Jenifer’s lost income on the Rosenberg family over the past two months and heading into the next two is $8,000. Add this to the $2,000 out-of-pocket the family has already been billed for imaging of the node and for pre-operative preparations, and you get the $10,000 starting figure we’re trying to raise.

That doesn’t include any potential cancer treatments after the surgery … and it also doesn’t include the upcoming expenses for fighting the insurance company to approve imaging on a palpable mass in Jenifer’s breast. (More on that in an upcoming post.)

Both Rosenberg children recently returned to college, so finances were already tight. Please be generous and give what you can to keep this wonderful family’s heads above water!
