Hi, My name is Annette Sanderson. Thank you to everyone who has raised money and helped us move in last month. My brother, who is in the final stage of cancer, my daughter, who attends an outstate college, and I urgently need your help.

The loss of my home of 26 years at 318 East 16th Street in Flatbush has been devastating and costly.

I was a Community Health Visiting Nurse for 15 years but had to stop working because of the pandemic in 2020. Being a homeowner gave me a sense of security during the last two years I have been unemployed. Now my family and I have to start over completely.

We need to raise $45K ASAP for the following:

$10,000 to move into 2-3 bedrooms. (If you have any leads on affordable apartments in Flatbush, East Flatbush, or Crown Heights, please let us know)

$1320 a week for the hotel room we have been in since October

$3000 for the construction of a temporary place to live until we find a more permanent home

$800 a month money for our storage unit and moving costs

$15,000 legal retainer and fees for our case in Supreme Court

$18,000 for the college tuition

Medical supplies and transportation for my brother’s medical appointments

Basic needs, like food, gas, clothing, etc

In 1996, Thomas and Annette Sanderson bought their dream house at 318 East 16th Street in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Little did these Black Trinidian homeowners know that the same real estate agent who sold them the house would steal their deed and commit fraud in their name. The Sandersons have been fighting for two decades to win back their deed and title.

In 2019, Wells Fargo, a predatory lender nationally known for targeting Black and Brown homeowners, put their home up for auction. Developer Muhammed Tutul of Aydin BK Holding, Inc. and NZ Properties Group was well aware of the Sanderson family's active Supreme Court case to regain ownership of their home and purchased it anyway. On Oct 18th, the Sandersons were illegally evicted from their home by Muhammed Tutul.

On October 18th, representatives of Aydin BK Holding, Inc. and NZ Properties Group, Inc. physically blocked the family so they could not retrieve their coats and other essential items forcing them to leave with only the clothes on their backs. This family now must replace and mourn several missing items, including jewelry, family heirlooms, and broken furniture, after the Network Moving Corporation hired by Mohammed Tutul ransacked their house. The Sandersons have also experienced Anti-Black racism from Muhammad Tutul of Aydin BK Holding, including calling the family "dumb N-words."
