We are the Sandovals, a family of five in the midst of some medical issues which are taking a significant toll on our already fragile financial means.

You see, my husband is a Wounded Warrior who was medically retired after becoming injured during his 12 years of Active Duty and 3 deployments. Recently, he reinjured his ankle and will be needing further testing followed by surgery. The testing will let the orthopedic surgeon know the full extent of his current injury. It will also show any issues with the previous hardware and what will need to be done during surgery.

I have been battling ongoing neurological issues since my craniotomy to remove a benign tumor in the middle of my brain. Recently, those issues have resulted in intractable seizures, loss of mobility, neuropathy, and encephalopathy. In addition, my Crohn's Disease, which I have been diagnosed with since the age of 12, is at its all-time worst and not improving despite steroids, biologics, chemo/immunosuppressants, and countless hospital stays.

As you can imagine, these medical issues have impacted our entire family. Our oldest son is going through a challenging time dealing with the trauma of seeing me seize and the uncertainty of when I was in multiple comas. He has weekly appointments to help him work through what he's experiencing.

For just the three of us, we have appointments 4 of the 5 days a week every week in the month of May alone. Between copays, medications, parking, etc., it is a huge financial burden we have been unexpectedly faced with.

We know times are difficult for many families right now. If you are able to share our story or donate even $5, it could mean the difference of us being able to get a much-needed medication or not. The funds donated will be going towards our medical expenses. These include our out of pocket copays for appointments, imaging, infusions, pt, lab work, hospital admissions, surgery etc. It will also help pay for monthly medications, medical supplies, transportation and parking expenses. We truly appreciate all the love and support. We couldn't go through this fight without each of you.
