Dears,
I'm Muhannad Helvaci, and I'm submitting this fundraising appeal on behalf of Mohammad Sarhan. Here is his message:
-------
I'm Mohammad Sarhan, a software engineer from Gaza. My family and I are homeless due to the ongoing bombings in Gaza since October 7th. We have been displaced 10 times and are now living in a tent Khan Younis (Probably somewhere else while you read this) under inhuman conditions. We are running out of food, there is no electricity, no water, no toilet, and the weather is cold and rainy.
It has been more than 5 months of hell and horror. This genocide has been too long to bear, and our mental health and lives are in constant danger. I can't fully describe the daily shocks and traumas we face. We have reached a point where there is no hope left for us here in Gaza, where we are unfortunately just waiting for our turn to die. Even if there is a ceasefire, the destruction in Gaza is beyond prompt repair.
(I couldn't reach our home, but I managed to find some photos on the internet of our home)
My family has lost our home and everything we own. We seek support amidst the lack of safety, and I find myself compelled to reach out. I urgently need your generous support to help evacuate my family. The loss of our home is not just a physical displacement but a profound emotional upheaval, stripping away the sense of security and belonging that every family cherishes. We stand at a crossroads, our future hinging on the uncertain tides of conflict. We have already lost a family member, and just recently, my younger brother, a promising 21-year-old, was killed by a missile that struck our supposed safe haven.

In a poignant turn of events, I had purchased a home for myself, only to lose it within less than a year due to the ravages of war. Despite this, I have chosen not to include donations for rebuilding my own home, as I wish to undertake that challenge myself. My mission now exclusively focuses on protecting the lives of my elderly father, ill mother, and little sister.
We are deeply grateful for any support you can offer, whether it be financial, spreading the word, or simply keeping my family in your thoughts. In the fabric of humanity, it's the threads of compassion and collective action that create the strongest bonds.

Departure Plan out of Gaza:
We have a detailed plan for how the funds will be used to ensure a secure departure from Gaza. This includes transportation costs, border fees, and passport fees.
To cross the Rafah Gaza-Egypt border, we need to have our names listed in the Crossing List (paid permit). Coordinators in Egypt who can add our names to the list at the border are now asking for anywhere from €5,000-7,000 per person. They will not add the names until we can prove we have the money ready.
Being the oldest in the family, I cannot live with myself if something happens to my family and I didn't do everything in my power to get them out.
How the fund will be used:
We are hoping to raise €100,000. The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to an account managed by me. Your generous contributions will go mainly to Rafah Crossing permit, transportation expenses to Egypt, finding a shelter for us and other humanitarian needs that could cover us for a few months
------
Medical Expenses:
Given the health challenges we are currently grappling with, we also need to set aside funds for medical expenses. This includes immediate care for existing illnesses and potential treatments once we reach our destination. My father suffers from a chronic illness, while my mother urgently requires surgery due to severe back pain stemming from a disc issue, necessitating top-notch healthcare.
-----
Additionally, a commission will be allocated to cover GoFundMe transaction fees (2.9% + €0.30 per transaction).
Thank you for coming together as a community to rescue Sarhan family from a brutal war! Time is of the essence! Help us get them across the border into Egypt so we know they are safe from the increasing attacks in the south of Gaza, Please share widely and donate!
