UPDATE ON VOLUNTEERS IN PR (9/27/17)
We are relieved to report that we have heard from all the rescuers on the ground in PR and that they are ok. Our rescue partners pulled 30 dogs from the street before Hurricanes Irma and Maria. We have received word that all of our volunteers are okay and all except one dog survived; he most likely died from a heart attack
We need donations now more than ever to provide for costs of vetting, fostering and eventual transportation of the remaining dogs to their forever homes. Here is a breakdown of exactly how funds are used:
$30 covers a vet exam for one dog
$50 covers deworming and shots for one dog
$75 buys a kennel for a medium sized dog
$100 pays for a medicated bath and preventative medicine for fleas and ticks
$150 is the cost to spay/neuter one dog
$200 buys a one month supply of food and a leash and collar for four dogs
$250 covers a ticket for a dog to the mainland
$500 is the cost of an emergency vet visit for one dog in need of life saving treatment
If you are interested in providing a foster or forever home for one of our hurricane survivors, please fill out a form on our website:

Thank you for your continued support.
**Stray from the Heart's original campaign to help the satos of Hurricane Irma has now expanded to include the satos affected by both Irma and Maria. Please continue to check the "updates" section of our fundraiser for news we receive from our rescue partners about the status of the dogs.**
Our rescue partners in Puerto Rico are on the ground trying to help as many Satos - both strays and dogs who have been abandoned by their owners - get to safety.
They are already in need of our help and we know the situation will become even more dire over the next few days. Please consider making a donation that will go directly towards saving as many Satos as we can. No amount is ever too small.
Thank you!
