Help the Severson Family

We are asking for your help on behalf of our family member, Shawn Severson.

 

Shawn and his wife Kelly contracted Covid-19 in late November 2021. Kelly was taken by ambulance and admitted into the ICU on Dec 2nd. Four days later, Shawn was also taken by ambulance and admitted into the ICU.

 

During her first few days in the ICU, Kelly made some improvements, but her condition deteriorated rapidly after that. She was put into a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator on Wednesday Dec. 8th. The next day, her kidneys failed, and she was airlifted to St. John's Hospital as they were better equipped to save and maintain Kelly's life.

 

Shawn spent 8 days in the ICU before he was sent home with oxygen. He is currently recovering at home while caring for their 10-year-old son, Drake, and 7-year-old twin daughters Arabella & Camille.

 

Kelly and the incredible ICU team fought long and hard against this terrible disease, but her body was exhausted and unable to recover. She passed away on December 29, 2021, with Shawn and her sister Tricia by her side. She leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of her children, her family, and everyone who knew her.

 

After insurance, Shawn is looking at tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills and other expenses in the coming months. It is unclear when he will be able to return to work, as he is still recovering and is now left to raise his children without the love of his life by his side. We hope to alleviate the financial burden so that he can focus solely on the kids and their wellbeing, as they adjust to life without Kelly. Any help is greatly appreciated to get their family through this terrible time.
