Help the SF Artist & Musician Attacked on 2nd St

A group of us are reaching out for support for our beloved unhoused friend named Jaz. He is a talented artist with a paintbrush and a saxophone. He displays his artwork along 2nd Street near Harrison in San Francisco, bringing color and beauty to an otherwise dark and gated parking lot. When you pass him, you will find him reading incredible books or painting on various types of canvas, including cardboard boxes, canvas, wood pieces, and many other items, which is why we refer to him as a street artist.

Tragically, on March 6, 2023, at 2 pm, Jaz was attacked by three young men from behind, resulting in a severe blow to his head that caused profuse bleeding and damage to his teeth which will require intense reconstruction. Jaz is a self-sufficient individual who normally refuses charity but now needs our help.

Over the last two years, Jaz has been investing in dental work so that he can return to playing the saxophone. Despite being a classically trained musician, he could not play due to teeth issues. However, due to the attack, Jaz will now have to start over with some of his dental work, including implants and extractions of fractured teeth.

Seeing such a talented and hardworking individual face such senseless violence is heartbreaking. We hope to rally the community to come together and support Jaz during this difficult time. He has worked hard to recover from a previous TBI (traumatic brain injury) after a taxi driver lost control and hit him several years ago.

We are asking for your help in supporting Jaz during his recovery. Every little bit counts. Your contribution could help pay for a hotel where he can recover, meals, and medical expenses. Any money generated will be managed by Shelley Costantini, who has assisted Jaz for several years. The funds* will be sent directly to the appropriate parties, such as the dentist, hospital, or hotel.

Let's unite as a community to show Jaz he is not alone. Together, we can make a difference in his life and in the lives of others like him who are often overlooked and forgotten. Let's demonstrate our love, support, and appreciation for the beauty he brings to our city. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
