Help the Slater Family Rebuild After Flood
Hello Everyone! My name is Jenna Spigutz and I am setting up this GoFundMe for the Slater Family. I have known Andrew and Kelli Slater for over 10 years. They are amazing people and wonderful friends.
Recently, they were impacted by the severe flash flooding that filled their home with over 3 feet of water. They have two little girls who lost all of their belongings, and the family has had extensive damage to their home (including HVAC, electrical, mold, leaking windows, etc.). Their daughters both have disabilities, and they were facing challenges before this storm happened (Autism / JIA and Osteoporosis).
I went to their house this week with the intention of helping to do some cleanup so they could get back up on their feet, but I left feeling defeated for them. There is extensive mold damage, and with their daughter's immune system being lowered from her infusions, I know this is not safe for her or anyone in the family. When I discovered that their homeowners insurance did not cover anything for all of their losses, I knew I had to do more.
Kelli and Andrew are people who always go the extra mile to help someone in need. Kelli is so dedicated to her work as an oncology nurse and is there for her patients and their loved ones on some of the hardest days of their lives. This family really deserves support. I know they would never ask, so I am asking for them. Any donation is a contribution to ensure that this family can feel safe again in their home. Even if you cannot donate, please take a moment to share this fundraiser.
Any funds given will be to help the Slaters get appropriate mold cleanup, electrical repair, and a replacement HVAC system.
When this flood occurred, Andrew had to wade in the sewage water to rescue the girls' pet lizard, baby blanket, and anything he could carry. In seconds, he began getting shocked by the electrical system that was now underwater. The girls were absolutely traumatized and screaming in fear for their own lives and the life of their father. The Slater's are so thankful that they let the kids stay up late due to the thunder storm. If they would have gone to bed like any other night, they would have been asleep in the water. There is nothing we can do to undo what has happened to them, but I am hoping the community can come together to ensure that the Slaters have a home that is mold-free, safe, and warm. I know that they will be eternally grateful. Thank you!
