Help the Smajic Family
Donation protected
Hello all! My name is Dijana and I created this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend, Selma Smajic, who is a local Des Plaines, IL resident. Earlier this morning Selma’s younger brother, Muamer Smajic, and father, Muriz Smajic, were involved in a tragic semi truck accident in Bucksnort, TN when a truck from the opposite lane struck them causing a head-on collision. From all of the information we have obtained so far, Muamer has sustained critical injuries and was flown to Nashville where he has undergone brain surgery. We are waiting for more information as he recovers in the ICU. Unfortunately, Muriz Smajic was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident. He leaves behind a loving wife and four children.
Muriz and Almira Smajic fled the war-torn country of Bosnia in 1997 with a toddler and an infant in their arms in hopes for a better future - the American Dream. Since then, they have expanded their family and have two additional minor children aged 14 and 10. Fast-forward many years, Muamer wanted to follow his fathers footsteps and was training on the road with him. Friends and family would describe Muriz as a wonderful father, an outstanding husband, and someone you can always lean on.
This is horrific tragedy that has saddened the entire Bosnian community in the short time that we’ve known this.
I’ve created this account to relieve the family of any funeral, travel, and additional medical expenses.
I am asking any and all of you to help out financially with any amount you can, no amount is too small. The last thing this wonderful family should have to deal with is a financial burden.
Thank you so much.
Love,
Dijana.
