HELP The Soares Family get their Father Home
These are our parents, Henry and Charlotte Soares, long time residents of Kamuela,Hawaii and married for 58 years. They took a trip to Las Vegas to visit their grandson in May 2018 with the intentions of it being a two week visit, unfortunately due to a ton of health complications it turned into a nightmare.
Our Dad fell ill with exasperated COPD which has led him to require oxygen everyday around the clock. He now requires more oxygen than any machine or concentrator can provide to fly on a commercial flight. Over the past two years, he developed many other health issues involving all of his major organs and prevented him from flying home.
Last Thanksgiving we received more devastating news that Dad now has congestive heart failure. After hearing this news, a bunch of our family got together and made a trip out to Vegas so that we could bring as much of Hawai’i to him as we could during such a rough time.
With each hospitalization and procedure that Dad was faced with, he and the rest of our ‘ohana remained optimistic in hopes that he would get better and be able to come home. Since he is still unable to fly on a commercial flight due to his oxygen needs and other health issues, we decided to book our parents on a cruise to come home in April 2020. But unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic happened and the cruiseship was no longer an option as all cruise ships were cancelled.
Our parents have such a great desire, after two very long trying years of being away to just come home and breathe fresh Hawaiian air and step on Hawaiian lands again where they were both born and raised. They long to be in their own home with their five daughters, ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two of whom they have never met yet.
Our only option to get our parents back home now with all of the rest of our family is to come home on a private medically equipped aircraft suited for all of his health issues and challenges. We found a company called ANGEL MEDICAL FLIGHT that can bring our parents home safely together, however there is tremendous cost involved to do this. This is our last resort to be able to get our parents home. We, the Soares ‘ohana humbly ask for your help to get our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather HOME.
