Help the Somauroo Family

Hi, My name is Philadelphia and I am fundraising on behalf of my friends Tawnya and Kahlil and their twin daughters Aubree and Juniper who lost their home in Louisville due to the Marshall fire. I have known Tawnya and Kahlil for 3 years as we are neighbors in Louisville. I am fundraising on their behalf to help with all the costs associated with this loss. They will have to find temporary accommodation as they assess how long it will take to rebuild their home. They will also lose work while managing the process of loosing their home in such a tragic way.

 

Aubree and Juniper not only lost their home and their Christmas presents but won’t be home for their birthday this month.

 

Here are their words describing why they need your support:

 

We just lost our beloved Louisville home in the recent Colorado wildfire. With our toddler twins Aubree and Juniper safe at a babysitter’s house, we began monitoring the fire as soon as we saw the plume. We were calm when we started packing, but it quickly became frantic when hurricane force winds brought an ash and ember storm our way. We were able to gather medicines, papers, photos, computers, few clothes, our children’s favorite stuffies, and then the flames were upon us and we drove east to safety.

 

That night we saw pictures on social media of houses in our neighborhood engulfed in flames, but nothing could have prepared us for what the morning brought . Our neighborhood was the worst hit in Louisville, with every house single house totally destroyed. Visiting the smoldering wreckage of our cherished community was surreal. Our home that we loved so much, and everything in it, was completely destroyed.

 

We have been touched by the number of people who are reaching out and asking what they can do to help. The honest answer is that we don't exactly know yet. Our immediate needs are met, we have food, clothing and shelter. However, the process of rebuilding is going to take years, and we have lost things that can never be replaced. We are grateful for any help people would like to provide.
