Help the Spannagel Family Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

The Spannagel Family has recently experienced an unimaginable loss due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The hurricane has destroyed their home causing them to lose 90% of their belongings. They are currently displaced, with three young children (ages 6,4, and 1) and, as Haley is pregnant with twins, this has added even more challenges to an already overwhelming situation.

While they are beyond grateful that they are all safe, they are left with very little and are struggling to rebuild their lives from scratch. Renters insurance is denying all claims due to flooding not being included in their policy. Universal at Lakewood property management is providing no answers and very little communication at this time. Universal at Lakewood also failed to inform them, along with many others, that their townhouse was built in a 100-year flood plain. It is looking like their best case scenario will be to get out of their lease but then they are left to find a new rental.
