Help The Sparkle Barn Recover

My name is Stacy Harshman. I am the Owner of the Sparkle Barn in Wallingford, Vermont. The catastrophic flooding in Vermont on July 10 - 11th hit us hard. The basement and studio of the Sparkle Barn were flooded and under over 4 feet of standing water.

We need your help to keep on Sparkling. We do not have flood insurance, so none of this is covered. I will be applying for FEMA aid this afternoon (July 17). Hopefully, we will get some assistance. The owner of the Restoration company we have contracted to work with us said he's never worked on a restoration job this big without it being insurance or FEMA funded.

I am dedicated to saving the Sparkle Barn building. This is going to be a huge out-of-pocket cost even with FEMA aid.

We have to cut at least 6' of drywall and insulation throughout the basement and studio. The walls will need to be cut out and dried ASAP so mold doesn't take hold. After the water damage is fixed and mold remediation is finished, phase two will begin and we will be able to repair and re-build. The basement alone is 30' x 60'.

All of our mechanical equipment in the basement: boiler, furnaces, hot water heaters, wall units etc. plus all the things that are attached to make it all work - are all destroyed.

The Sparkle Barn is an important local business. We support many, many artists and craftspeople in Vermont, we employ local people, we are always creating free experiences for the community to enjoy, our store brings thousands of people to the Wallingford and Rutland area each week who then spend their money in the community, we pay a significant amount of sales taxes that benefit the state as well as Rutland County. We are an important economic generator for the area.

My wish and hope is that the Sparkle Barn can continue being a community builder and a bright light of inspiration and joy for years to come.
