Help the Steel Hawks Compete at the FIRST World Championship
Tax deductible
The Steel Hawks, a Flushing-based robotics team representing Townsend Harris High School have won the prestigious FIRST Impact Award for their outstanding service and dedication to their community, qualifying them to compete in the FIRST Championships in Houston, TX. With your help, we can help bring the dreams of over 100 aspiring engineers a little closer to reality.
Our team has worked diligently to spread STEM education to our communities, from locally in Flushing to our motherlands in Guyana and India. Through Project SHIFT, we've given opportunities for elementary school students from economically and racially underrepresented communities the chance the discover what engaging in STEM is like, from building their own mini-robots to creating their own games. Through initiatives like Project Guyana, we've enabled the creation of the first FIRST Lego League team in Guyana, giving an opportunity to children who otherwise would not have this opportunity. But the Steel Hawks are also innovators; we've changed the ways FRC teams scout data, developing a mobile app to help teams keep track of their data. And most importantly, we make sure that all of our programs, from FRC to running toy drives, are fun for all who participate. Learn more by watching our FIRST Impact Video or read our essay
