HELP THE STEEL HAWKS GO TO FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP

Donation protected
We are FRC Team 2601 - Steel Hawks, a FIRST robotics team based in Flushing, NY, representing Townsend Harris High School. Recently, we won at the New York Tech Valley Regional and qualified for the 2022 FRC FIRST Championship in Houston, TX. The relentless COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted our financial capabilities, leaving us in need of funding to attend this competition. No matter the obstacle, the Steel Hawks face everything as a team and as a family. So please, every donation matters! Help the steel hawks fly to FIRST CHAMPIONSHIPS and steel the victory!

The Steel Hawks are 130 members strong and spread apart across our different subteams which each pertain to our interests. Our subteams consist of fabrication: mechanical and electrical engineering, programming: vision, robot code, and scout app, and communications: chairman's, finance, and social media. Every January, the team gathers to start the treacherous build season. During kickoff weekend, FIRST reveals a new game for the new FRC season. We dedicate hundreds of hours after school and on the weekends to brainstorming, drafting, building, and testing our robot to compete in these games.  Although the hours are long, we feel great satisfaction seeing our robot compete and seeing our mechanisms function properly, which makes every second worth it.

The Steel Hawks pride ourselves in our dedication to following our ATP values and methodology:
Assist! - We assist students, parents, teachers alike in understanding the benefits of being a part of a hands-on experience like robotics.
Teach! - We teach everyone who is interested in participating in FIRST or STEM programs by teaching the necessary skills to succeed.
Provide! - We provide our mentees with valuable STEM experiences and opportunities, especially through our outreach.

Our outreach has taken many forms throughout our time as a FIRST team:
In our school, we have brought about the inception of Computer Science and Engineering classes.
Our team created a film, First Relations, highlighting our inclusivity as a robotics team, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Outside of our school, we have mentored multiple elementary, middle, and high schools. Amongst these schools, we brought about the formation of robotics teams, increased focus on STEM in their curriculums, and gave students needed skills to restart their teams, etc.
We participate in many events like Maker Faire and World Science Festival. Along with hosting events like our educational content Hawk Talks and Hawk Pod, or the FIRST Tech Challenge Championships and Open Field which we do at our school.
We have brought robotics overseas in our Project India and Project Philippines where members of our team returned to their hometowns in order to teach STEM skills. After our departure from the Philippines, we donated $4500 in supplies and 2500 textbooks.
