Help the Straughter Family with Eric's Funeral Costs

On December 28th, 2024, the Straughter family received the heartbreaking news that Eric Straughter lost his life while hiking in Washington.

The family is overcome with sorrow. On December 24th, 2024, Eric set out for a short-day hike in Washington with his good friend. Although Eric was an experienced hiker, and visited the same trails frequently, he and his friend became lost. When they didn't return home in time for the Christmas holiday with family, they were reported missing. A search and rescue was dispatched but unfortunately did not locate them in time. The Straughter family is thankful for everyone who assisted in the search for him and his friend during the Christmas holiday. Eric, unprepared for overnight conditions, died from exposure while trying to make it home.

Eric had just turned 37 on December 21st. Eric grew up in Merced, CA , attending local schools in Merced and Bakersfield before moving to Portland, Oregon. His favorite pastime was hiking, being in nature, disc golf, and football. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed. Eric leaves behind his mother, Gwen Straughter, sisters Tanika Straughter, and Felicia Straughter, nieces Sydney and Rose, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and many cherished friends.

His family are all devastated by his unexpected loss and unprepared for the high cost of a funeral service and travel to Portland, Oregon.

We are asking for donations to help the family cover the cost of his burial and any other related expenses. Donations will be distributed directly to his family.
