Help the Tippett Family Recover After Hurricane Helene

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

The Tippett family, like many others, have been through an incredibly challenging year. Our situation became dire in June when our landlord chose not to renew our lease, leaving us without a home. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t find affordable housing that met our needs. We bounced between temporary shelters, including a hotel and an Airbnb, before finding some stability living with a friend. Things were finally looking up—until Hurricane Helene hit.

The hurricane devastated our friend’s apartment, leaving it uninhabitable and destroying many of our belongings. Our car, a Toyota RAV4 that we relied on for income by driving Uber, was totaled in the flood. Now, our family of four and our two pets are split up across multiple households. Our children are staying with extended family out of town, unable to attend their schools. Adam and Jennifer remain with a friend, trying to hold everything together with our cat in tow while our dog is staying with another friend.

We didn't have the proper coverage on the car for flooding and are waiting on assistance from FEMA while hoping that we are approved, but our hopes aren't very high because they denied us on everything else so far (housing, storage and moving costs, personal belongings, etc). In the meantime, we desperately need help. Our most immediate need is a new vehicle. Our totaled car is still under loan, meaning we’ll be stuck making payments on a car we can no longer drive. Without a reliable car, it’s impossible for us to work, provide for our family, and get back on our feet.

2024 has been a tough year for us, and though we’ve been blessed with some support, we are in a difficult place right now. We are humbly asking for your generosity to help us recover. Any amount you can donate will go toward purchasing a new vehicle and paying off the current loan, covering daily living expenses, and helping us reunite our family under one roof.
