Help the Vanasse family rebuild after devastating crash

On October 11th at 8:19 pm, our world was turned upside down. My husband was standing in the driveway washing windows on his work van when a Toyota Rav 4 jumped the curb at a high rate of speed, missing my husband Jason Vanasse by inches and hitting our house and his work van.

Compromising our electricity and load-bearing wall and taking out a good portion of our foundation as well. The impact moved the entire house, cracking many walls along with ceilings and moving our front steps, leaving our front door inaccessible. Our back stairs were moved as well, leaving them very rickety and unreliable. We were told we were covered under the homeowners since we are family and a portion of my husband’s check is directly deposited into the mortgage account. We moved in to care for my mother-in-law after her husband passed last November. Now the insurance is saying no because we have a different kitchen and she is technically the homeowner who resides at 80 and we are at 82. They also have yet to come through with any funds for mom. I have been out of work with a shoulder injury since January. I’m fighting to go back to work, but they won’t let me yet. Jason will be out through November and mom is disabled. Even when Mom’s insurance does come through, Mary, Jason, and I are not covered. It will be months before we can go back home. We will need first, last, and security for an apartment, and Jason currently has no income. Mine is minimal, and Mary’s hours have been cut because she has Mono. We also have 3 cats and a dog, and so does mom. So finding a place is going to be challenging. Paying for a hotel is expensive, and so is the gas for the generator.

I’m so frazzled. I hope this all makes sense. We really do appreciate all the kind words, love, and support. We are trying to respond to everyone.
