Help the Veyna-Flores family after arson
Donation protected
This is very hard for me to share, we are not the type of people to ask for help and times are difficult for everyone, but here I am. My family has recently gone through a very horrific experience. A month ago, two of our vehicles were intentionally set on fire in the middle of the night in our driveway. Thankfully none of us were harmed and we were able to put the fires out before they reached the gas tanks. I say intentional because there was evidence recovered that is currently being processed. I can’t share many details due to it being an ongoing investigation, but one thing is for sure—they targeted and terrorized an innocent family.
I have been working with the insurance company and we are now being told that they will not be covering either car. This entire situation has shaken us to the core and to the point where we no longer felt safe in our home of over twelve years. We have since moved, prompting me to ask for help. My daughter Natalia’s Toyota Camry was completely destroyed and she no longer has a means of transportation. She is a full-time student at UNM who also works PT as a NM Pre-K teacher with a very hectic schedule and she is currently having to depend on rides and Uber. José and my Toyota Sequoia was also badly burned. The interior is melted and the smell of gasoline is overwhelming, but unfortunately he has no other choice than to use it to commute to work.
Because of the moving expenses that we all had to pool our money for, we are scrambling to try to get our lives back in order and figure out a way to remedy the costs. Barreling into the holiday season, we understand that it is hard to ask, but at this time every little bit helps. All donations will go towards helping find a dependable used car for my daughter and attempt to somehow improve the condition of the Sequoia. We are incredibly grateful to our community for being there for us.
