Help the Waits Family with Medical Expenses

On September 9th at around 2:45 pm, Barry Waits and Jessica, his wife, were watching TV. Barry made a sudden and unusual sound, and then his head fell to one side. Jessica knew what had happened, and quickly jumped into action. She called 911 and pulled Barry into the floor to perform CPR. Ingomar Fire Dept. was the first on the scene, followed by Baptist Union first responders. Barry was taken to New Albany by ambulance, and then air lifted to Tupelo. While Barry was undergoing a heart cath, he suffered a second massive heart attack. Barry stayed in the CCU in Tupelo for 2 1/2 weeks before being transferred to Memphis Regional One. He is still in Memphis at Regional One receiving the best therapy and treatment from some of the most wonderful nurses and therapists. From the beginning of this event in Barry’s life, his family has gone very little hope, but day by day been strengthened. The people who see Barry on a daily basis believe he just needs time because he truly is showing a little more improvement with each passing day. We all know time is money. Doctors bills and expenses and life will continue even though this sweet family has had their attention redirected. Jessica is a newly retired teacher. Their daughter, Kinzie Claire,is a full-time college student, and their son, Barrett, is a senior in high school at Myrtle. Barry’s colleagues generously donated some of their unused vacation time, but the family knows that kind of financial gift will not last long. Within the first week of Barry being in the hospital, a bill from NMMC was in the mailbox.
