We are the Waldrons and this is what Wednesday looked like for our family….

January 8th, 2025, will forever be a day burned in our minds…. A day that was planned to be amazing, taking my great-grandmother to go see the manatees at Blue Springs with my mom, my brother, and my son. Then my husband got off work and met us at the district's wrestling match to support my brother's team. At 7:48 pm, my husband and I drove up our driveway to the smell of something burning and smoke in our yard. My husband opened our front door and was met by smoke rolling out of our house. At 7:50 pm, I called 911 frantically yelling, “Our house is on fire, our dogs are in there!” I could see the fire glowing through thick smoke. Hours later, the fire was put out, and our dogs had already been removed from our home… deceased. Walls collapsed, the roof caving in, and smoke damage beyond being fixable. The fire marshal then told us they found the starting point of the fire, an outlet in our kitchen that had shorted out and caused an electrical fire. We were told that our home had started burning slowly hours beforehand. We have lost our home and our fur babies. I am not one to just ask for handouts, but we are left starting over completely with a baby due in just 4 weeks and no home. We are staying with family until we can figure out where our family will live while we try to rebuild our life.

We are looking to buy a large camper for our family to live in while we work on replacing our home. Unfortunately, we did not have homeowners insurance; we were living on a tight budget and could not afford it. Now it’s 100x worse.
