Help the Waterman Family Through Oliver's Health Battle

My name is Lisa Crawford. I am the co-owner of a busy and blessed chiropractic practice along with my husband, Dr. Steve Crawford. We currently employ 3 amazing young men who work hard for us every day. They give all day long, never complaining and always greeting patients with a smile. I created this GoFundMe for a critically urgent reason… One of our staff members finds himself in a place none of us want to be.

Jacob Waterman has been with our clinic for almost 11 years. During that time, he married his love, Rachel, and together, they started their precious family. Oliver, 4 years, and Margot, 6 months, round out their tribe of 4!

Their perfect world of adventure, love, and laughter was shattered this week after a visit to the doctor. For the last week or so, Oliver didn’t feel well. He began complaining about his legs hurting when he walked. Both Rachel and Jacob noticed he was sluggish. Circular bruising began to appear even though he hadn’t bumped into things. Alarm bells began to go off, and Rachel took him in for a check-up. Initially, they thought it could be Lyme Disease. They had recently purchased a new bounce house for their entertainment business, and they had seen ticks. They did blood work, took x-rays, etc. The x-rays were clean, but the blood work told a different story.

Oliver’s doctor was worried enough to admit him for more testing at our local hospital, St. Francis Medical Center. Upon hearing that little Oliver was being admitted to the hospital, Jacob rushed out of our office to meet Rachel and Oliver. Once the test results at the hospital came back, they were told that Oliver “most likely” has Leukemia. No parent wants to hear this kind of news.

The next morning, Oliver was transported by ambulance to St. Jude in Memphis with Rachel close by his side. Jacob followed behind. They are there now, having finished day 2 of what I am sure has been rigorous testing to find out what the actual diagnosis is for precious Oliver. They don’t have the complete answer yet but are expected to get it at any minute.

Right now, they need our help. They will not ask for it, but they need it. After one of our other staff mentioned creating a GoFundMe to help them, I was all in on getting one started. With their permission, I ask for your generous heartfelt donations for this precious young family. Let’s help them so their focus can be narrowed to their son and not on how to pay their bills. Let’s ease their burden if even a small bit.

They are in the beginning phases of all of this and completely overwhelmed. This will be a long and difficult journey for all of them. They have been told to prepare to be at St. Jude for at least a month this go-round. That’s just the start. They wholeheartedly believe Oliver will pull through this, but if this is indeed Leukemia, what he will have to endure to get to that point will require months and months, if not more, of time away from home, time away from work, and a constant financial need.

From the Watermans - “I really think thoughts and prayers are what we need the most right now. We’ve been through so many emotions the past couple of days, so prayers for Oliver (above all), as well as prayers for peace and understanding, I feel could go a long way for both of us.” - Jacob

Thank you so much for your consideration. Let’s be their life raft during this storm.
