Help the White Family Rebuild after Hurricane Helene:
They Lost Everything

Hi everyone, my name is Jim, and I’m a close friend of the White family – Jonathan and Dawn, along with their beautiful children Lennon, Kingsley, and little Utah (affectionately known as “The Caucasians”).

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the Nolichucky River surged beyond its banks, completely destroying their home, farm, and everything they worked so hard to build. Their entire world has been swept away.

Despite facing total devastation, the Whites are showing their characteristic resilience and positivity, but they need our help.

Johnny and Dawn are some of the most generous and selfless people in our community. They never hesitate to lend a hand. Now, it’s our turn to give back.

If you’ve ever received their help or support, or experienced their warmth, kindness and friendship, now is the time to stand by them. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference as they work to rebuild their lives from the ground up.

Here's how they'll use your donation:

● Food
● Housing
● Tools and supplies for Jonathan's electrical business so that he's able to earn money for his family
● Gas and diesel fuel
● Clothing
● ...and pretty much everything else in their lives due to the total loss of their home, property and livelihoods

Let’s come together for this amazing family. Any amount you can give will truly make a difference. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your generosity and support.

Here's an update that Johnny shared shortly after discovering the complete destruction of his home and property:

UPDATE ON OUR HOUSE: ITS GONE. It's ALL gone. The house, cabin and barn full tools, chainsaws, ladders, solar batteries, tractor ALL WASHED AWAY just a few hours after the giant maple tree fell on it. We are all safe and thank goodness this didn't happen while we slept.

We left the house at 4:45 with 2 SUVs lightly packed with bare essentials. We thought we'd be back in the morning for more clothes. I got back at 8 just after the sun went down to find our dog, Sweetie, pull the other car to higher ground next to bus and grab my upright bass. we had a weddings gig in Asheville on Saturday. When I got to our long driveway it was already under water. I had to park the truck on the road and run up the hill through the woods, briars and poison ivy to be able come back down the hill to where our home was just a couple of hours before.

When I ran down the hill I saw the bus (on the high ground) was floating and there was a raging river where the house was and no house or Sweetie. I couldn't find her anywhere and decided to hike back to the truck and come back in the daylight.

I thought we lost her by just as I was pulling away she ran out of the woods completely terrified. Today I came back and found the kitten muddy and hungry. The chickens, ducks and turkeys are no where to found like everything else. Needless to say we are so grateful to be alive. We're gonna make it through this. We're survivors.

Starting over with nothing is what we do. This farm was a new start 5 years ago and now Here we are with a clean slate...pun absolutely intended. Bring it on Cosmos. Let's surf.
