Help The Wotherspoons After Medical Emergencies
Donation protected
Hello, I am starting a fundraiser to try and help out my parents after they have had several medical emergencies.
In November of last year, my mother fell and severely injured her knee. She struggled even to walk and get up and down. She finally started to recover and began a new job at the Salvation Army in January 2022, but after only working for three weeks, she fell again and this time, broke her hip and femur. She was in rehab for over a month, and despite being home now, she is still recovering.
Last month, my father went in for an echocardiogram and the doctor found that two of his arteries were almost completely blocked. He was immediately scheduled for an open heart bypass surgery the following week. Unfortunately, during surgery, they found another blocked artery, and he ended up having a triple bypass. He is starting to recover fantastically, but the doctor says he won't be close to fully recovered for about a year.
Right now, my parents are severely financially struggling. They receive enough social security to pay their rent but are several months behind on their other bills (electricity, gas, water, etc.) due to these medical emergencies. They have two older vehicles, but one is out of commission, and the other is... iffy at best. They have exhausted every means to try and get by without asking for help from others, including selling family heirlooms and pawning their wedding rings.
My parents raised me and have done more for me than I ever could have asked. They've loved and supported me throughout my entire life, and if I could, I would pay off everything myself and continue to support them until they get back on their feet. However, I just had my second child and am just getting by. It breaks my heart to see them struggling so severely yet be incapable of helping them myself. The only thing left I could think of was to reach out to the community and ask for donations to help ease their financial burdens and relieve some stress while they heal.
Thank you very much for reading, sharing, and for any donation you may make.
