Help Thea Go To An All Trans Hockey Tournament

Hi everyone,

My name is Thea and I've been playing ice hockey since I was 7 years old. I've been offered the chance to go to an all trans ice hockey tournament in Wisconsin on Nov 19-20 where they will cover my flights and tournament fees. Before I heard they would cover that for me, I assumed I wouldn't make it. Ever since coming out as trans, I've struggled to find stable work and I don't have much money at all, pretty much living day to day.

I would love to go but before I have them book my flights, I want to make sure I'm clear to go. The main thing holding me back is missed work wages, and additional travel expenses. I will be missing at least 4 days of work, including the weekend which is the most profitable time for doing Doordash. I can expect to make $400 during that time depending on how my work shifts go.

Also there is a possibility I need to get a hotel. I am not entirely sure on this yet as I am in touch about possibly finding somebody to stay with or rent a hotel with other players. Regardless, this could cost a few hundred bucks possibly.

Then there's food which I want to make sure I have enough money for, possibly $100 worth for four days?

There's other unknowns with travel expenses, such as Ubers to/from airport, baggage fees (could be $300-$400 if they decide my hockey bag is oversize. I've never traveled with it before so I don't know how airports handle it), etc. which makes setting a firm goal difficult. I am overshooting what I think all possible expenses may include. Any additional money will go towards good use like paying my bills and possibly towards car repairs which are desperately needed and which I can't afford.

I am thankful to any help and I appreciate all the support given here and to me in the past. I can't tell you how many times I have cried because people decided to be generous even when I didn't ask and help me financially here and there.

This will be a dream for me, to spend a weekend playing the sport I love, among other trans people.
