Help Theresa Lobato & Family With Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Theresa is a lifelong resident of the beautiful San Luis Valley in Colorado. She is a woman of unmatched faith, strength, and compassion. She has dedicated her life to the service of God, family, and community.
Theresa raised five children (and one angel in heaven) and had an integral role in raising each of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gram "Tree" is the spiritual center of her family.
Now, Theresa needs our help like never before.
On Wednesday, February 7th, Theresa slipped on ice and fell outside her apartment after delivering food to her neighbor. She suffered a broken hip and underwent a successful surgery (intramedullary nailing). Theresa remains hospitalized at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center where she is making great progress in her recovery.
Her treatment team believes strongly that Theresa would benefit from a stay in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital to continue to receive speech, occupational, and physical therapies. She was approved for admission by Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs.
However, her health insurance through United Healthcare denied payment for the stay. Encompass filed an appeal on Theresa's behalf. Unfortunately, this appeal was denied. United Healthcare's position is that they will not pay for any rehabilitation care for Theresa, regardless of the setting.
Now, Theresa's family is responsible for paying for all of her post-hospital medical care and therapies. Because Theresa will continue to need extensive support to regain her strength, stamina, and stability, the medical costs will be extensive.
Please consider helping our beloved Gram Tree as she regains her independence.
